Meet Dr. Mona Hardas

Personalized Cosmetic Gynecology & Women’s Intimate Healthcare in Michigan

Changes in intimate anatomy can occur throughout a woman’s life, whether associated with childbirth, aging, weight fluctuations, or natural anatomical differences. For women experiencing discomfort or considering aesthetic treatment, understanding the available options is an important part of making informed healthcare decisions.

Dr. Mona Hardas is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with more than 25 years of private surgical practice experience. Serving Flint, Troy, and the greater Detroit area, she specializes in cosmetic and functional gynecology, offering surgical and nonsurgical procedures addressing vaginal anatomy, external genital appearance, and selected intimate health concerns.

Her services include labiaplasty, vaginoplasty, perineoplasty, clitoral hood reduction, monsplasty, labia majora enhancement, and nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation.

Extensive Experience in Women’s Healthcare

Dr. Hardas began her medical education at Government Medical College in Nagpur, India, where she earned her medical degree.

She continued her training in England through the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists before completing her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.

Since beginning minimally invasive gynecologic surgery in 1999, she has developed experience in procedures involving the female reproductive system and pelvic anatomy.

Her interest in helping women address intimate anatomical and functional concerns led her to pursue additional education in cosmetic gynecology.

Advanced Qualifications & Professional Involvement

Dr. Hardas is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds the designation of Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).

She has also earned two Master’s certifications in cosmetic gynecology and holds fellowship affiliations with the International Society of Cosmetic Gynecology and the American Aesthetic Association.

Beyond caring for patients, she serves as a faculty member of the Functional Gynecology Institute, helping train physicians in specialized aesthetic and functional gynecologic procedures.

She also participates as an international speaker and educator in cosmetic gynecology.

Cosmetic Gynecology Procedures & Treatment Options

Women consider cosmetic gynecology for many different reasons. Some experience irritation or discomfort from prominent tissue, while others are concerned about anatomical changes following pregnancy, childbirth, aging, or significant weight loss.

Dr. Hardas evaluates each patient’s anatomy, symptoms, medical history, and goals before discussing treatment options.

Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty changes the size or shape of the labia minora, the inner folds of tissue surrounding the vaginal opening.

Patients may seek treatment because of asymmetry, discomfort during exercise, irritation from clothing, or personal aesthetic concerns.

Dr. Hardas considers natural anatomical variation, tissue symmetry, and the importance of preserving function when discussing surgical approaches.

Vaginoplasty & Vaginal Tightening

Vaginoplasty involves surgically modifying or reconstructing vaginal tissues and may be considered by selected patients experiencing anatomical changes or perceived laxity following childbirth.

Before recommending surgery, Dr. Hardas evaluates vaginal tissues, pelvic floor anatomy, and any underlying medical concerns.

Because vaginal tightening can affect function and sensation, patients should understand potential complications such as scarring, discomfort, altered sensation, and painful intercourse.

Perineoplasty

The perineum is the tissue between the vaginal opening and anus. Childbirth, previous surgical repairs, or injury may affect this area.

Perineoplasty involves reconstructing or reshaping the perineal tissues to address selected anatomical concerns.

Dr. Hardas evaluates individual symptoms and medical history to determine whether surgery may be appropriate.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

Clitoral hood reduction reshapes excess tissue surrounding the clitoral hood and may be performed independently or together with labiaplasty.

Because the clitoral region contains delicate nerves and sensitive tissues, careful surgical planning is essential. Patients should understand the possibility of sensory changes before proceeding.

Monsplasty

Monsplasty modifies the contour of the mons pubis, the fatty tissue located above the pubic bone.

Women may consider treatment because of excess fullness, sagging tissue, or changes following substantial weight loss.

Depending on anatomy and treatment goals, surgery may involve removing or repositioning tissue.

Labia Majora Enhancement

The labia majora, or outer labial folds, can change in volume and appearance due to aging, weight fluctuations, or natural anatomical differences.

Dr. Hardas offers aesthetic procedures involving these tissues and discusses whether surgical or nonsurgical enhancement may be appropriate.

Nonsurgical Vaginal Rejuvenation Options

For women interested in alternatives to surgery, Dr. Hardas offers radiofrequency-based treatments, including Votiva and MorpheusV8.

These technologies are marketed for vulvovaginal tissue changes, perceived laxity, and intimate wellness.

However, scientific evidence supporting certain vaginal rejuvenation applications remains limited, especially regarding long-term safety and effectiveness. Patients should discuss available research, possible risks, and established medical alternatives.

O-Shot® Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy

Dr. Hardas also offers the O-Shot®, which uses injections of platelet-rich plasma into selected genital tissues.

Although promoted for sexual wellness and certain intimate health concerns, the evidence supporting these treatments remains preliminary.

Improvements in sexual function or urinary symptoms cannot be guaranteed, making informed consultation particularly important.

Functional Gynecology & Intimate Health

Dr. Hardas also evaluates medical conditions that may affect intimate comfort and gynecologic health.

Her areas of care include urinary incontinence, menopausal changes, hormone-related symptoms, and lichen sclerosus.

Because these concerns may require medical treatments rather than elective cosmetic procedures, her broader gynecologic experience helps patients understand appropriate options.

Sharing Knowledge With Other Physicians

In addition to her Michigan clinical practice, Dr. Hardas participates in international educational programs and professional events focused on aesthetic gynecology, vaginal rejuvenation, and minimally invasive procedures.

As a faculty member of the Functional Gynecology Institute, she contributes to physician training in specialized cosmetic and functional gynecologic techniques.

Her educational involvement reflects a continuing commitment to professional development in the field.

Personalized Care & Informed Decisions

Every patient’s anatomy, medical history, and treatment goals are different.

Some women seek relief from labial discomfort, while others want to discuss postpartum changes, menopause-related concerns, or personal aesthetic preferences.

Dr. Hardas begins with an individualized consultation, reviewing symptoms, anatomical characteristics, medical history, and expectations.

She discusses available surgical and nonsurgical options, recovery considerations, potential complications, and treatment limitations to support informed decisions.
